5 MANICURES TO TRY CAVIAR, VELVET, MAGNETIC, AND MORE

Over the past couple of years nail art culture has really taken off. Fashion Bomb faves Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Eva Marcille are always mindful of their manis, and me? I’m no different. I’m obsessed with my nails! I use them as a way to make a subtle statement (the beauty is in the details). I’m always on the prowl for the latest in nail design–here are a few looks I uncovered that I think you’ll love:

1. The Caviar:



UK based brand CIATE introduced the Caviar manicure less than a year ago, and it has since taken off! The look offers a feminine and elegant 3-D effect that’s achieved with microbeads. A name like “Caviar”  just oozes opulence, no? This is next on my list to try.  You can purchase the kit for $25 at Sephora, or attempt a DIY with instructions.



2. The Velvet: 

Feeling fancy? Give this mani a whirl. CIATE carries on the couture nail game with its latest creation, the Velvet manicure. It promises to bring “decadent luxury to your fingertips”. The kit comes with crushed velvet, and is available with an array of colors that includes Berry Poncho (dark purple), Blue Suede, and Mink Cashmere. Just like the Caviar, this set can also be purchased at Sephora for $19. Rita Ora seems to have already taken a liking to the trend. Peep her velvet nails below.




3. The Magnetic:

I’ll admit: when I first heard about this I was confused. Magnetic? How? Sally Hansen recently launched their take on the nail trend with colors like Golden Conduct, Electric Emerald, Graphite Gravity, and more. The polish is infused with magnetic particles that form a design when exposed to the specially designed magnet. Interesting.



4. The Galaxy: 


Fans of astronomy far and wide will be excited to know that this intergalactic mani now exists. Truth be told, this cute design works great on anyone willing to give it a shot. It doesn’t come in a kit, instead achieved manually.


5. The Tribal Print:

This is a nail design that seemed to be influenced by the tribal print clothing trend. They can be found in a variety of patterns. You can purchase nail wraps from Asos to get the look. But of course I have a DIY option.


I’ve already tried the tribal, now I’m on to conquer the rest. What do you think? Will you be trying any of these manicures?

CARE FOR YOUR HAIR...

Well there has certainly been a lot of hype about MORROCANOIL, with beauty critics calling it ‘s new miracle treatment for unruly hair’ and although I had heard some amazing things about it, I was dubious… at first.
All the hype surrounding this product is due to one ingredient, Argan Oil. Argan Oil is said to have very high levels of Vitamin E and saponins which soften skin and regenerate hair. MORROCANOIL contains an ‘argan oil-infused’ formula along with Vitamin F (Omega 6), Vitamin A to improve elasticity, Vitamin E to protect against free-radicals, and Phenols to shield against environmental stressors.
One of the main advantages of this product is that it really does reduce drying time, and thus heat styling damage. I’ve been using it for about two weeks now, putting 2 pumps in my towel dried hair and then blow drying. It certainly looks shinier and feels softer, and as the instructions say, all of the product will be absorbed, leaving no residue like you get with some hair serums. Your hair just soaks it up. It also has a wonderful fragrance like incense and gives great UV protection to your hair, which is just as damaged by the sun as your skin. Overall, if your hair has been damaged by heat styling or chemicals and is in some serious need of TLC, this product is worth a try. After years of abusing my locks with the straightening irons, I have found something which has begun to replenish them. I just hope it lasts with the rate I keep using it…

MAKEUP TIPS 4 EYES

As promised, here is a basic charts for different eye shades, invest in a color wheel and have fun...

The rule of thumb is to wear the opposite color eye shadow of your eyes on the color wheel so that your eyes really stand out...

if you struggle with trying to make your eyes pop and reach their full potential, keep on reading!

- Don’t line the waterline of the eye unless it’s for a theatrical, editorial or party look, otherwise do it with a white or beige color so it looks natural. White/fleshy toned eyeliner is an exception as it can open up the eye.

- Avoid lining the bottom lash line. This can also look really harsh on some people, if you do want to line the bottom lash line though use a  brown eyeliner and only take it 3 quarters of the way in from the outer corner of the eye and smudge it a little bit,this still gives impact and makes them look more defined but it doesn’t look as harsh.

- Highlight the brown bone. Using a white highlighter on the brow will open up the eye area tremendously, ensure that you don’t use one with a slight pink undertone or it will look like you’ve just tweezed the area.

- Highlight the inner corner of the eye. Highlighting the inner corner of the eye with a white eyeshadow (shimmery or not) really helps to open up the eyes and make them pop, simply place a small amount right by the tear duct.

- Highlight the outer corner. Using a white highlighter just under your bottom lash line and taking it three quarters of the way in towards the inner corner of the eye,helps to make you look like you’ve had a good nights sleep!

- Use light toned eyeshadows. Using a light toned but pigmented eyeshadow always helps to make the eyes look larger while darker colours will make them look smaller. Opt for whites, creams, light beige’s, off whites, egg shell, and dusty rose tones for the best impact.

- Use Mascara. Mascara is probably one of the biggest eye openers out there, Whether you choose something clear, black or brown it will always open up the eyes. Ensure you wiggle the wand at the base of the root all the way to the tips of the lashes, for even more impact do your lower lashes to, but only apply one coat. Also make sure you curl the lashes before any application of eye lash products!

USE EYESHADOW SHADES THAT ARE BEST SUITED FOR YOUR EYE COLOR! follow the color wheel

Blue eyes should try: Gold, bronze, ash, taupe, grey, heather, slate, apricot, peach, and lilac tones.

Light Brown eyes should try: Rich dark brown, mocha, khaki, stone and bark tones.

Dark Brown eyes should try: Electric blue, Milky chocolate and dark chocolate tones, indigo, teal and white tones.

Green eyes should try: Purple,plum,beige,camel,slate, lilac and taupe tones. Green can be used but be cautious when using or switch it up with some green eyeliner instead. 

Hazel eyes should try: Brown, burgundy, purple and pink tones.

Grey eyes should try:  You can experiment the most as you almost have a blank canvas, but for added impact try bronze and grey tones. To avoid looking washed out avoid shades like white, and try darker tones.
